*Fuel*

These are the things that fuel me, that give me this gotta-keep-going feeling, the things that make me talk really fast & ramble so that I’m on the phone with Gina for TWO HOURS last night, the things that make me wake up thinking in the morning…

  • Creative Energy – sure, I need to turn this energy into motion more often…and I certainly need to use some of this energy to get my Mom’s pages done…but it’s the energy that’s fueling me. It’s the energy that makes me grin at The Container Store ad in the mail b/c the patterns & colors are so awesome. It’s the energy that keeps these ideas running through my head of all the things that I could MAKE and DO if I could just stop for a day and create.
  • Scrapbooking stuff – I want Basic Grey Blitzen so badly right now…but here’s what’s funny…I could have it. I could just mosey on over to an internet site & place an order. But I feel like that would be moving too fast. How do I bring Blitzen home when I haven’t even seen it in person? How do I know that it’s not just eye candy with no substance? How do I know if we’ll even get along? So I’m waiting. Patiently. The minute that Jean gets it in, I’m there. And if we click in person, then yeah baby, you’re so coming home with me.
  • Friends – Two hours on the phone with Gina. Six emails to & from Stacy. Reading blogs by fabulous women that I get to call friends even though we’ve never met. I don’t know what I would do without my friends. Don’t know how I would live.
  • Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries – Because my husband loves me, and knows that I wait for these to come out every year. And because he knows to not even bother bringing home the milk chocolate variety, b/c dark is soooo much better. And eating 3 of them last night with my coffee and not even feeling guilty.
  • Reconnecting – I’m totally hoping to get an email today from an old friend that I’ve "found" in a very "it’s a small world" sort of way. See, I got an email from my Uncle Mike yesterday that he’s coming home from Kuwait. And someone else who was copied has the same last name as one of my bestest high school friends. So, I emailed him & said "are you her Dad?" and he is…and he’s forwarding my email to her, and I’m dying to know if she’ll write back. It turns out that her Dad used to race with this guy that is friends with my Dad & my Uncle. Small world.

What’s fueling you today?

Besides the 8 cans of coke that I drink each day? My fuel is people like you who keep me sane and make me smile and encourage me to keep on creating.
I love your list because I can relate to all of the things you write about. The talking fast, that one cracks me up. I don’t necessarily talk faster, I just talk a bit louder and get more animated. In person, you can see the fuel ignite when I do that.

Fueling me…. these things come to mind…
    1) Blogging (since I was up at like 4:20am this morning with some kind of urge to BLOG???
    2) Coffee always fuels me… need some right now
    3) God – yes, God is amazing
    4) Hannah – goodness does this girl have some sort of ignitior that just instantly gives me a jolt… patience mommy, patience….
    5) Shopping — I really really love shopping (I dont feel I do it enough though)
    6) Taking a photo that speaks to me… you know, the ones that you just fall in love with and the moment lasts forever… yes, they are few and far between but they are forever so it doesnt matter.
    7) Scrapbooking… although I am starting to think this is not truly my gift (I am not nearly as creative as I wish I was) but you know what? I am still going to scrap despite this because I do love doing it and I know my children will appreciate it later in life.
    8) My friends… I wouldnt survive well without REAL friends!
    9) Matthew – when he screams… HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!
    10) Dwight’s hugs
ok… so that is enough for now 🙂 Have a great day Katrina!

Hi Katrina! I went to Jean’s last night to crop and saw your DT layouts. Very cool. I made an altered composition book last night for her to display, used her new Junkitz paper. Fun! I am also waiting for BG Blitzen, please come in soon. Have a great day.

I just visited your blog for the first time tonight and I love your writing! You have so much energy and positive thoughts. I totally “get” what you mean about clicking with BG Blitzen. Will I REALLY LOVE it in real life, or just pass it by without noticing it? See you soon!

I’m curious who the mystery person is, too…is it someone who went to school with us, or someone who you were friends with, but didn’t go to school with us? What fuels me??? Uh…trying to solve people’s little mysterious blog entries, such as who you were friends with that you’re wanting to reconnect with (ha ha). I love dark chocolate too…ANY dark chocolate…I go insane at work if I run out because it’s my little fix after lunch (my co-worker brings me a bag or two at the beginning of every month because she gets tired of me complaining when I run out).

It just hit me…the *thing* that fuels me…RUNNING!!! There is nothing that gets me going like a nice, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG, run. When I wake up on the weekends, it the first thing I do (with the kids in a stroller), and I feel great ALL day. But, the best is when I get home from work exhausted, overwhelmed, wishing it was bedtime…and then go for a run WITHOUT the kids…it takes all the stress away that has built up all day and puts me in a completely different frame of mind. On days that I can’t go for a run I just don’t feel the same. (my family all think I’m crazy)
