Barb & Kat’s Excellent Adventures : VT 2022

Did you think that Covid ended the Barb & Kat’s Excellent Adventure tradition? Hell no! We won’t let a pandemic get in our way!

At the end of February, Barb drove all the way from Wisconsin for a visit. She did the same thing last year, which basically earns her “best friend for life” status. We didn’t make any grand plans for this visit, leaning more toward “we’re both in a hard season, so let’s hold space together.” Obviously, that calls for a welcome cheeseboard. Ha!

Barb & I share a love of green things, so a greenhouse trip was in order. It’s possible that 2 plants came home with each of us!

We celebrated Taco Tuesday with days off from work, and lunch at El Cortijo Taqueria. Breakfast nachos for lunch? YES PLEASE. While at lunch, I got a text from Gina, informing us that it was National Margarita Day. Since we were already (unknowingly) celebrating this important holiday, we felt that the fiesta should continue…

Gina was happy to oblige! I love that we’re in a season in our lives that allows for random Taco Tuesday gatherings that don’t require babysitters or advanced planning.

Oops! In my excitement over Tacos x2, I skipped a step! We did a little shopping in Burlington, and then went to see The Worst Person in the World, which won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2021.

We wrapped up the week with a decadent dinner at Honey Road. Such an amazing restaurant.

It was such a comforting week, full of conversation & reflection. We’ve been through a lot in this life together, and I could be more grateful for Barb’s willingness to literally show up. It means the world to me.
