Barb & Kat’s Excellent Adventures : home in VT.

Barb_vtvisit

I don't think that it's any secret that 2013 has been less-than-awesome for some of us Ventage Girls. I hate that Barb & I have shared some similar yuck on our journeys, but I couldn't ask for a better friend to stay by my side.

This year's visits have been hometown – May in WI, and now Sept in VT. Barb's visit to the 802 was calm and comfortable. We don't always need shenanigans to make us happy…

Brunchtable
My tribe showed up to embrace Barb and to eat brunch. They brought champagne & donuts & french toast & laughter & stories. At one point, Leigh asked for me to go around the table and explain how each person came to be in my life. It's the perfect prompt for a blog post, so I'm tucking that one away.

Harvestmarket

On Monday, we headed south to visit the Vermont Creamery and The Alchemist. At Vermont Creamery, we tasted sea salted butter, Cremont, Bonne Bouche, and Creamy Goat Cheese. The Cremont came home with us. A special edition butter with maple & sea salt that is currently exclusive to Whole Foods also made it into our bag. At The Alchemist, we picked up Heady Topper (a "highly celebrated and nearly unobtainable beer." From there, we drove to Hunger Mountain Coop to buy more cheese (to go with the beer) – sold to us by an incredibly helpful and very kind employee. VT people are good people.

On Tuesday, we went to Penny Cluse for brunch, and then tried on 3592 outfits (well, I tried them on. Barb picked them out.). We enjoyed a stunning Vermont day at the waterfront, and discussed (mostly) subjects that I've tortured Barb with 3592 times. She's patient, that one.

Sunglasses
We posted this picture on Instagram, which elicited a series of inappropriate comments by Gabby, Em, and Kelly….which really just proves that we have the best.friends.ever.

In the midst of it all….we cooked, we baked, and we hung out with Austin. We discussed the #suckageofsummer2013 (how's that for a hashtag?) and schemed about how to make the rest of our summers brilliant (uhm, we're looking at you, Kelly Purkey). Ooh, and we also facetimed Em, which made us smile kind of a lot

We hate when these adventures come to an end, but we know that there is always another one on the horizon….
