the winner’s circle
I believe that team sports are as much about team spirit & team play as athletic ability. You only have to watch middle school basketball games to understand that thinking. The athletic part is still a learning experience…it’s not always pretty, and sometimes even the kids are amazed when a ball actually goes into the basket. Friday’s Lady Cougars game was a stellar combination of team spirit, team play, and some pretty darn good athletics. It was the first game of the year, and a home game at that. The girls were sooo excited. They dressed in their brand new shooting shirts & handed-down warm up pants over their uniforms. You gotta understand that in girl’s sports, style is everything. Their team chanting got the crowd excited. And then…they played their hearts out. We’ve told Hope that her theme song needs to be "I believe I can fly"…because she comes out of nowhere and blocks a shot or grabs a rebound. It’s so fun to watch, and I’m so freakin’ proud of her. Final score? Colchester 37 – Vergennes 12. GO LADY COUGARS!!!!
And, in case you’re wondering about Coach Rob’s team? Check out the scoreboard in the last picture….nice way to start the season, eh?

I almost spewed when I read the “style is everything” sentence. That is so true. I used to crack up when Alyssa would make phone calls prior to the games just to make sure that everyone on the team wore the same scrunchies or hair ribbons. I LOVE that part of girls sports. The boys just don’t care about things like that.
Great pictures. The winner’s circle is a really cool concept!
Congrats to coach Rob. He’s such a great guy (yes, I still have a crush on him).
