words that inspire.

I have a habit of printing passages that speak to me. I copy them into journals, hang on my mirror, post them at my desk, star in Google Reader, pin on Pinterest….you get the point. Two current favorites to distract your attention from the fact that I haven't posted my Dec daily pages in days. Soon friends, soon. I'm eyeballs deep in a writing/creating/invoicing/coffee-drinking/not cleaning weekend.

From Chatting at the Sky -

May you know beyond doubt or shadow that you are not alone. Let the cold air cut sharp through your worries, the December sky beckon your soul from it's hiding place. Wrap your hands around that warm cup, laugh loud in the celebrations, and believe quietly in grace & truth.

But I do know that I’m searching, as we all are, for that ‘safe place’ where it all feels right. And in this era of working too hard and too many hours away from our kids and not enough time to just breathe and be and relish our day-to-day lives, I’m trying to redefine my safe place. Not to believe that it’s security, or money, or anything that I can control. That, in fact, it’s the opposite: trying to build a life that’s about connection and warmth and joy, and learning to receive the hard stuff in a resilient frame of mind.
