2013 week in the life

gearing up for WITL : sept 2013

So, I'm going to play along with Ali's Week in the Life project. I'm feeling kinda, I don't know…silly?…saying that, given that I'm months behind on Project Life and might not need to add another thing to my list right now. But. Here's the thing – I function better with goals and plans. I'm going to approach this a bit differently than I have in the past (I fizzled in 2011, but here's my 2010 WITL album). My inspiration so far…

*Life on Lee Avenue – I love, love, love the approach that Jess took to her WITL album last year. She drew inspiration from Real Simple magazine, and that got me thinking….

*I love Kinfolk magazine. The hip(ster) vibe, the minimalist design… even the feel of the magazine in my hands. Which led me to…

*Artifact Uprising. I've heard several scrapbookers mention their photo books, and their design aesthetic is similar to Kinfolk. I'm planning on doing a 6×8 or 8.5×8.5 softcover book for this project. (I soooo wish that they were offering a discount code for this project!)

*I'm 100% OKAY with "staging" my life for this week. I don't need to document my muffin top, piles of laundry, and filthy car to be authentic. While I'm not always a fan of "fake it till you make it"…I do think that you move toward what you think about. So, for this week, I'm thinking about ways to make my life beautiful. And reminding myself that even the not-so-beautiful stuff will look better with a filter. Speaking of filters…

*I'm digging this matte vintage color action, and at least for now, am planning on using it on my photos this week (I reserve the right to change my mind).

*I'm going to focus on a few categories to provide a little bit of structure – eat, wear, do, read. I'll add more/less throughout the week.

*I'm going to carry my DSLR more, but will rely on my iphone for many photos.

Are you joining in? What's your plan?

Good for you! I keep plugging away at the PL Baby Book. Surely I’ll get a week or two “finished” soon (um, I got stuck at week 13 and he will be 30 weeks tomorrow). The pictures are printed and the journaling is planned. Just need to get it in the book!
Um, back to you, I can’t wait to see what you create this year. 2010 was beautiful!

I’m in…and I’m also behind on my PL project. I did WITL last time she had it and absolutely LOVED the finish product..that is my only motivation this time around. 🙂

I’m hoping this project will help me recreate the habit of documenting everything…not just my newborn’s face 🙂 totally hear you on the staging thing…i think doing the same will be helpful!
