Fall & Freeze Warnings

It’s been 12 years since I left CA and moved to VT. And each year, as winter is approaching, I ask myself…WHAT WAS I THINKING????? Yes, I extol the virtues of Vermont to friends & relatives. It has become my home. I do enjoy it. Really, I do. Why else would I drive a Subaru, drink skim lattes, wear clogs (or crocs!), and say things like wicked and freakin’?

It’s days like today, when I check the weather for the weekend, and see a FREEZE WARNING that I question my sanity. Yes, my hot weather friends, it’s in the 30s at night. As my Mom complained about 90 degree weather in OK, I reminded her that my oil burner is burning big bucks by the minute. When she suggested electric blankets, I reminded her that my electric bill is also big bucks. Face it, Mom, I win for most weather related things to whine about. It’s still fall…I don’t want it to freeze yet.

So, that’s really all I have to say this morning. It’s cold. It’s not wicked cold yet, it’s just freakin’ cold. Hence the Creed video this morning…needed something hot in here. LOL.

I understand. We don’t get as cold as you do, but one of the reasons I wanted to leave CA was to live in a place that had four seasons again. So imagine how annoyed I am that here we are, in October, and it is in the 90s today (or will be) as it was yesterday, but Saturday we are expected to have highs in the 50s. My body likes to gently change with the seasons. But to have a 40 degree difference over the course of 2 days, oh I’m not looking forward to it. It definitely is not time to freeze yet, so I hope you get lucky. At least we are finally get some nice fall color here . . . how’s your tree doing?

YIKES! We may have a record high today. 88 degrees on October 20th. Oy. You send me a bit of cold, i’ll send you a bit of warmth, it’ll equal out, k? lol

Okay, I totally had to chuckle at your Subaru, skim latte, and clog comment! Why? Because I know just of what you speak. 😉 We left CA for six years to live in UT, and now that we’re back I desperately want to move out of state again. The boring climate and weather leaves me feeling seasonless. Then again, I suppose I might not want to basically burning the cash-ola just to stay warm.
🙁 Hope your winter is warmer than predicted. Creed! You seriously made my day. Scott Stapp and Mark Tremonti are seriously scrumpious!

77 today and sunny. I was just complaining that it’s never going to get cold. It’s supposed to be 84 by Sunday. Of course when it’s 40 and foggy, I’ll be the first one whining. I’d still trade you any day. I can’t imagine living anywhere but CA, but maybe I just have no imagination :).

Ok maybe I am like Shannon and have no imagination because I can not even imagine the weather you all have back east. NO THANK YOU! I am blissfully happy with our high 70s weather. Today we hung ghosts and pumpkins up in the front yard in shorts! OH Yeah!! Hey our leaves change- it may just be Dec and only last for a few days before the rain and wind rips them all off. Nope, leave me blissfully ignorant in my stereotypical sunny californian weather! LOL!

HAD to laugh at Stacy’s comment about the rain and wind ripping the leaves off, because I was thinking the same thing…”oh, how pretty those leaves look…oh, they’re all soggy now, but pretty…oh, now they’re gone!!!” Ha ha I lived in New York and remember being freezing cold in the snow, so I’ll stay in CA, and I’ll live vicariously through you and your weather photos. Kids going back to school on Monday????????????????

You reminded me why I was happy to move away from Wisconsin. Too cold, too soon, too long. I think that Vermont suits you marvelously – you wear it well! To me, that is YOU, the girl who is wicked cool, and freakin’ awesome.
