D&K Getaway

british columbia : may 2019

Last month, we traveled to Squamish, British Columbia to celebrate the 2019 graduating class of Quest University.

British Columbia is seriously one of the most beautiful places on earth.

So grateful that Hope was able to join us (she lives on the opposite side of Canada!), and that Austin’s girlfriend, Austyn, was able to share the weekend with us.

There have been moments over the past few years when I wasn’t certain that Austin would have this day. As many of you know, he began having seizures during his 2nd year of university, and was diagnosed with epilepsy shortly after. This kid didn’t just take on a rigorous university program – he took on his medical situation, meds, and lifestyle shifts at the same time. We are so proud of him.

He (along with a majority of his class) has a few credits to complete in the fall to finalize his degree. Quest is a unique university that awards only one degree – a Bachelor of Arts & Sciences. You can learn more about that here – Quest University.

We packed in some touristy fun while we were there – like enjoying the stunning view from the Sea to Sky Gondola Summit.

And, always grateful for adventures with this guy.

A final note – I think that it’s also important to note that Austin’s Dad & Grandmother made this trip – and I know that Austin was grateful that we all showed up, together, for him. Blended lives are bumpy, for sure, but we did it!
