DITL,  memory keeping

around here in March…

Tuesday, March 9th was the first Day in the Life® documenting day for 2021. This year, Ali chose the prompt Around Here as a guide for the day. I haven’t decided if I am going to include DITL in my 2021 Stories album, or if I’ll dedicate a 6×8 album to DITL and Week in the Life®. For now, I’ll just share my photos & words…

Around here, every morning starts with coffee at our meditation altar. I choose oils & fill the diffuser while Dan pours our coffee. Then we sit to talk, read, journal, and meditate. I love our morning ritual.

Around here, Queen Bea sits on my lap every morning while I sit at the meditation altar. Around here, my work day is spent in my home office, at the standing desk that Dan hacked together at the beginning of the pandemic.

Around here, I often don’t eat until between 11:30-12:30. Today, I had scrambled eggs in almond flour tortillas, with homemade arugula-pistachio pesto. Around here, I take a handful of supplements twice a day. I don’t enjoy it, but I do appreciate the positive impact to my health.

Around here, pops of color make me hopeful that Spring will arrive eventually. Warm(ish) days in March & April are a tease in Vermont. Also, I need to get something on that letterboard.

Around here, I’m loving seeing tulips nestled between lettuce and herbs…all on our dining room table. I’m starting to plan what our outdoor gardens will look like this summer. This will be a full-page photo in whatever version of project I end up with.

Around here, I put on lipstick for a video meeting. Not shown? The black leggings & slippers that have become my daily uniform. Around here, Dan has been spoiling me by upgrading my devices. A new iPad for my birthday, and now an Apple Watch for just because. I am loving the Watch!

Around here, Queen Bea hangs out in the office while Dan and I work. She’s a quiet office-mate.

Around here, I buy a lot of cards from Trader Joe’s for our (almost) weekly mail to the Littles. These went out with a sheet of stickers, a drawing from Dan, and notes from both of us. We are committed to connection. Around here, afternoons often involve a cup of tea. Gone are the days of drinking coffee from morning to night.

Around here, we tried a new recipe from the New York Times Cooking app…shrimp mofongo. We first had mofongo in Puerto Rico, and hadn’t attempted to make it ourselves until now. It was delicious. Around here, we either take turns cooking, or cook together. Dan handles most kitchen cleanup (I handle most laundry). Having defined responsibilities is awesome. Teamwork makes the dream work, right?

There were absolutely parts of the day that I didn’t document. There were absolutely moments where I thought that I wasn’t “keeping up” enough with this project. And I still absolutely love ordinary life documenting.
