life with littles,  project life

a field full of happy.

I have wanted to go to the Countryman Peony Farm for the past several years…on Saturday, Mackie & I finally made it happen! We ditched the boys and headed down to Northfield for a stroll through the fields with our cameras. As it turns out, we were there just in time…a series of thunderstorms closed the farm for the season on Monday.

I had no idea that there were so many styles/varieties of peonies! The hillside is planted with rows & rows of such beautiful blooms.

We have one peony planted in front of our house. When I suggested to Mackie that we should plant more, she said “after this experience…YES!” Love that she’s a fan!

All of the pictures above were shot with my Canon 7D and a 50mm fixed lens. I feel a bit rusty when I drag out my “big camera,” but I’m so happy with the detail that it can capture. It was a windy day, so shooting also required a lot of patience.

Mackie brought along a point & shoot camera – I still need to download her captures. Not only do I love that she loves flowers, but I also love that she loves photographing them!

Of course, every respectable farm has a tractor to play on!

Super grateful for this excellent girls’ day adventure!
