the 2017 reading challenge fail + new books

Remember that time that my brother challenged me to read 100 books by the end of October 2017? Yeah, so that didn’t happen. As we sit squarely in the middle of October, I think my total is probably right around…12. I have lots of great reasons why I didn’t achieve the goal, but I won’t bore you with those. I have been quite successful with buying books lately, so there’s really no excuse for my fall/winter reading to lag.

Over Easy – I adore Joy the Baker, and ordered this book for Barb a couple of months ago. When she gave it a thumbs up, I ordered one for myself. I’ve paged through it a couple of times, and definitely feel like putting a boozy brunch on the calendar soon.

Body Love – Read about this one on Ali’s blog/IG. I appreciate that more science-y parts of the book, but I’ll be honest – I really bought it for the smoothie recipes. So excited to have a TON of smoothie ideas that aren’t all packed with fruit.

The New Bohemians Handbook – this book arrived yesterday and I will definitely be savoring it this weekend. I adore the inspiration & style of the first of Justina’s books, The New Bohemians: Cool and Collected Homes.

The Four TendenciesThe Happiness Project was definitely a life-shifting book for me, and I’ve been a fan of Gretchen Rubin ever since. This book will likely be a take-on-a-flight read.

Braving the Wilderness – I’ve been reading a few pages of this book most nights recently. It feels particularly current & relevant.

The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving A F*ck – This is one of those trendy books that I ordered b/c everyone was reading it – and I just haven’t really gotten into it.

Ikigai : The Japanese Secret to a Long & Happy Life – I read about the concept of ikigai while doing some trend research this week. Really curious about this one – will let you know what I think!

What are you reading right now?

disclaimer – the above links are affiliate links b/c Amazon apparently decided to allow Vermont back into the program. I somehow missed that memo in January, but better late than never! Woot!

also- I totally wish that I’d put Body Love on the bottom of that stack b/c it would have looked more visually balanced. But YAY for portrait mode on iPhone!
