things that I learned in july…

July didn't quite live up to the rockstar status that I'd hoped for…and several of the things on my list went undone. Oh well. A few things that I learned…

1. I am the only one in my household that can see the overflowing recycling bin in the kitchen, the 16 empty toilet paper rolls in the bathroom, and empty shelves in the linen closet. Apparently, this ability to see domestic needs was not passed down to my children.

2. It is a 16 mile round trip bike ride from my house (Colchester) to the waterfront (Burlington). It is a lovely 16 miles.

3. The grass may not get greener, but it does get really, really tall when your riding lawn mower stops working.

4. Gas mileage is meaningless when 3 people are sharing 1 car. I should get rewards points or a free coffee or something.

5. Change happens. My job changed in July…I'm moving into full-time sales. Goodbye project management, hello frequent flyer miles.

6. EVERYONE in VT has been talking about Heady Topper. I finally had a few sips while out with a friend…and I have to agree with the masses…it's mighty good beer. Barb is visiting soon-ish, and I'm thinking that we need to visit the brewery.

7. Paying for heating oil in July makes me angry. #northeastproblems

8. After weeks of too-hot-to-turn-on-the-oven weather, it cooled down enough for me to make cupcakes. Baking is therapy. When everything else is spinning, the idea that I can mix ingredients together with a predictable outcome calms me. And the fact that it makes co-workers smile? That's a nice bonus.

What did you learn in July?

This list is inspired by Chatting at the Sky.

I learned in July that the best phrase in the English language is: sole custody 🙂 After that it is: holiday in Cape Cod is coming up! Must ponder all of the things of the past month. Right now I’m just catching up on sleep!
