the recovery process

It’s hard to believe it’s Wednesday already. Why do my weeks at work crawl by, but my week at home is flying by?? We’re in recovery mode here, as I’m sure many of you are. Cleaning, organizing, planning, more cleaning, catching up on errands. And y’know what? I like this. I like the spirit of new beginnings that the break between Christmas & New Year brings. I like the idea that a fresh new year is starting. I even like those silly "2005 in Review" TV shows!

So far, my week has been unproductive in scrappin’, but productive in other ways. On Monday, the kids & I helped with inventory at Scrapbook Central. WOW. Crazy counting. Yesterday, we ventured to the mall for a couple of exchanges & a quick lunch (there was a line at Taco Bell FOR DAYS). Spent a small fortune to get my hair cut & highlighted, and get Hope’s hair cut. Took Hope for a sports physical because it was the easiest week to schedule it. Spent a good chunk of time on the internet researching cruises for our April vacation. Today’s schedule includes a dentist appt for Austin, an oil change for both cars, bball practice for Hope, and a grocery run for me. And then, REALLY…..

It’s scrappin’ time. I’m going to make a pot of coffee, refill my M&M container, and get down to business. If I actually accomplish anything, I’ll post it here.

So, back to the booking a cruise thing. If you’ve been on one, leave me a comment with the cruise line, what boat, and your review. And, if you’re wondering, all 4 of us are going, so "family friendly" is a plus. THANKS!

    Oh man..i’m so jealous…a cruise?!
I need to color my hair. Can’t get these blasted blonde highlights out of my hair from this summer! they’re like super highlights or something.

I’ve been on two cruises and getting ready to go on another one in April, out of Ft. Lauderdale, to Mexico. This time we’re going on Royal Caribbean. Last year we went on Carnivale. You can’t go wrong with cruises- they have something for everybody..in fact, more than enough to satisfy so have a great time! If you need more info on Carnivale, email me and I’ll give you details.

Cruising is the absolute best way to vacation in my opinion. I’ve been on two and am looking forward to the next. First one was on Holland America, Veendam – definitely recommend it. Was what I expected a cruise to be. Great service, food – lots of it, nice and clean, friendly staff. More of “classy” cruise than my second one which was on Royal Carribbean Rhapsody of the Seas. I will never cruise on Royal Carribbean again. Was not clean, the room steward tried multiple times to pick up on my friend – almost to the point of creepy. Went looking for a pool towel and one staff person said “not my job”. Even with the worst service possible cruising was still fun. I suggest you take advantage of the dining room for meals. Treat yourself to at least one excursion at one of the ports. Shop, shop, shop. Take at least one warm outfit and watch out for that bar bill – it can really add up fast!
    Enjoy!

I went to Alaska on Holland America. It was the second best vacation ever (you really can’t beat Russia). Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Family friendly activities and Alaska is just beautiful. The food is fabulous and included. I loved it. You sound busy. Vacation time is usually like that for me, too. Unfortunately for me, I don’t have any vacation until July, so I’m stuck here at the office, looking at the sad pine tree outside my window, watching it pour and wishing I were home with a fire and some Sade. Oh well, happy day to you.

Hey this cruise thing is helpful because Shane’s family is going on one in the fall ( courtesy of great grandma ) We’ve been on two cruises both with Carnival. Always had great experiences! Always lots to do ( all ages ) and the food well is it great plus it’s aleays there! We figured there was like one hour in a day ( 24 hrs) that they didn’t have food somewhere ( on a deck or restaurant) and then you could still get room service. We went to the Mexican Riveria ( Cabo, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan) and a 3 day ( Catalina and Ensenda). While I can say going to Mexico wasn’t all that big thrill for me personally just being on the cruise was fun.

I’m so jealous of all you with good cruise experiences. My family loves them and have been on what feels like 50 to me! However, my one and only time, I got violently seasick and spent most of my time in the cabin wishing I could die. However we were on the Disney cruise at the time and I will say that the rest of the family had a wonderful time and if I were to ever try again, I would want to try Disney (with lots of anti-nausea drugs!) to see what fun I missed .

We went on Royal Caribbean YEARS ago. We went to Alaska. It was GREAT!!! Took a helicopter to a glacier (where Scott proposed), a train ride in Skagway, kayaking in Ketchikan (where I kindly reminded Scott that “the closest distance between two points is a straight line.” got yelled at for that one, apparently it didn’t come out as kind as I thought). We had a great experience on the cruise (did have one bad night of rocking where about half the people didn’t show up to breakfast the next morning because they were seasick). Ate tons…there was a casino, shuffleboard, a track, a gym, heated pool. There weren’t a whole lot of kids on this cruise, though. Then, for our honeymoon we went on Carnival to the Mexican Riviera (like Stacy!) THAT was a different experience- party boat!!! Kids everywhere, lots of “fun” music at the pool as well as games and competitions. It was more family-oriented for sure!!! I thought this was weird though- they didn’t give us soda with our dinner, had to pay for that ourselves, but didn’t have to on Royal Carribbean. We liked Royal Carribean better, but if we were going with our kids, we’d do Carnival.

Hey there…just had to say “thanks” for the goodies you mailed. Both Chip and I will have fun trying out all the varieties. Ava would think she’s died and gone to lip balm Heaven if she were to come over to your house!! So, thanks- and I posted pic at NittyGritty. Also, went on a cruise with my sister back in ’94- so we were young. I won a 3 day cruise on Carnival Ecstasy through waitressing at a restaurant. All expenses were paid from food to airfare. We sailed to Bahamas and had a great time. My sister and I were a little out of place with the other folks on the cruise. As one person put it, “There are three types of people on a cruise…the Newlywed, the Over-fed, and the Almost-dead”. We laughed because at every meal we could put our table guests into one of those categories. It was definitely fun and memorable. I am trying to talk Chip into a cruise someday. I think they are a lot more family-friendly now. Have fun booking your trip. And of course, you’re going to take tons of pics and make tons of scrapbooking work for yourself when you get back!
