the final days

Sounds ominous, doesn’t it? It feels ominous! So much to do this week…a lot Christmas related, but even more vacation related. I only work 4 days this week, then I’m off until the New Year. Whoooo Hooooo!

Spent a little time with Karen yesterday, running around town trying to get a few last minute gifts purchased. It seems like I have had the same conversation with ALL of my girlfriends this year….the one about not sleeping & too much to do & holiday stress. The one about wanting to simplify, but not feeling like the rest of the family is on board with that. There’s some high pressure expectations that go on amongst the family that Karen & I share…and we’d just like some peace. Maybe next year, huh?

Have a pile of boxes to take the post office today. Crossing my fingers that the little post office in the village that I work in isn’t very busy at lunchtime. Promising myself that next year, I’ll spend more time at amazon.com and less time packaging up boxes.

Amidst the craziness, some holiday fun…survived my first Make & Take Day at Scrapbook Central on Saturday. Lots of fun! And huge THANKS to Jean for helping me with my last minute prep (and for the beer & potato skins…yum!). Went to a Christmas party on Saturday night at a friend’s house…so much fun. Wanna know a secret? I’ve always wanted to throw cool cocktail parties, but always worried that I wasn’t cool enough…getting invited to one is a good first step, right?

Off to tape up boxes. Let the countdown begin!

Darlin’, you have GOT to use Amazon next year. Once I began to shop/ship that way, my holidays became a whole lot easier. And never once have they been late or delayed on the shipping, even when I place last minute orders. I’m a HUGE Amazon fan.
Now, about your cocktail party secret… me too. What is up with that? Here’s hoping you have a good time at the party you attended. And here’s wishing you a good week. YAY for the vacation. Your time off is hard earned and well deserved. I hope you enjoy every single second of this vacation.

IT must be a national epidemic, because my girlfriends and I have said the same thing! TOo much to do, and it’s stressin’ us out! I crave a simple christmas! I can totally do without the gift giving. Good food, good company…that’s all we need right? I’m actually playin’ hookie from work today. Have to finish my shopping, and it can’t get done with kids in tow! I wanna see a pic of the make n take you did.
    Have a great Monday!
Ps…so jealous you don’t have to go back to work until the New Year.

I have always wanted to have a cocktail party. I have a friend who used to be a bartender so if I can convince him to either tend bar or teach me how to make the drikns, I’ll be in. Don’t remind me how many days until Christmas – I have a four year old who does that. I have so much baking to do, I’ll be buried in flour! Hey, I have good news and bad news. Good news, I have the honey chicken recipe. Bad news, it’s at home. Tomorrow, I promise.
