8. Vocabulary. If you could eliminate one word from your brain forever—what would it be? (Author: Meadow DeVor)

I'm going to pick two – struggling and fail(-ure, -ed).

Struggling is my busy. Y'know how soooo many people answer "how are you?" with "Oh, good, just busy!" For the past 6 months, at least, nearly every question asked of me (by a friend) was answered with "I'm struggling." I'd like to eliminate that word, and that feeling, from my life. I'm perfectly okay with things being hard, and having to do the work….but to be in a constant state of struggle is simply exhausting.

I also want to take the time to get honest with myself about what "struggling" is really about. Have I not allowed enough time? Do I need to ask for help? Do I actually NOT want to be doing something? Am I feeling like I just need a break?

Fail, failure, failed. I've carried these words with me for so long. I don't need someone else to tear me down when something doesn't work out….I do a mighty fine job of it on my own. I need to shift my thinking. Endings are okay. Adjustments are expected. Change happens. I need to remind myself that showing up counts for something, and give myself credit for that.

PS. Two more Reverb posts after this one! Thanks for hanging in with me. Slugging through the muck feels like the only way through…

Funny how we both chose “busy” but looked at it from different directions – but still want to purge it from our vocabulary. My replacement is “full” and I remember each day that my life is full by choice and I can empty whatever doesn’t serve me or my children by just letting some things go – and that’s okay. Slugging through this project was such a tough thing to do but it brought about such joy. Interesting correlation? Just got my book back from AI and it’s gorgeous. So happy to have a record of this time, all the good, all the bad, all the goo. Keep going!

Don’t eliminate all the struggle and fail. I do admire your dedication to realizing what is causing the feeling, though – especially the struggle.
