Friday & much to do…

I had a hard time waking up this morning. I was really tired yesterday, so today would have been an excellent day to snuggle under the covers and sleep in. I know that I can do that tomorrow, but it’s unlikely. Even though Friday is the end of the week at work, it’s certainly NOT the end of our work week. For our family, and for most of our friend’s families, weekends are a different kind of work. Sure, there’s some fun sprinkled in…but it’s still work. On our list for this weekend:

  • put the books that are piled on the living room floor back into the bookcases that we had swiped for the craft show
  • take the old clothes that are piled on the living room floor to the resale shop and Salvation army
  • put the clean not-so-old clothes that are piled on the living room couch away in their respective owners rooms
  • vacuum the living room floor before something else gets piled on it
  • begin winterizing the house, despite the warm days that we’ve had this week
  • pick up the trail of stuff that has found it’s way onto the stairs by someone (probably me) who picked something up, said "this belongs upstairs" and set it on the stairs, intending to take it up on my next trip
  • take Austin to a birthday party
  • take Hope to a UVM basketball game (that’s on Rob’s list)
  • get my hair cut
  • mail my SIL’s birthday card & pictures – her birthday was October 4th. Don’t worry, she doesn’t like me much anyway…
  • go to Scrapbook Central for the Friday Night Crop w/Tawnya (woo hoo!!)
  • figure out how to make mojitos (don’t ask)
  • organize the kids school pictures & get them out to grandparents
  • vacuum the rest of the house so that it’s not jealous of the living room floor
  • throw away at least a few of the 500 pairs of shoes that are cluttering the mudroom – I swear they’re like rabbits in there
  • order this pair of shoes to replace a few that I’ve thrown out
  • pay some bills
  • re-join WW online so that I can lose this 10lbs that’s attached itself to my ass
  • related to that, carry this great bag that one of my customers sent to me…
  • Bag
I’m sure there’s more, but that’s enough to get started on. And now that you’re laughing at my bag, you’re not really paying attention, are you? LOL. Happy Friday.

    Ingredients:
    – 1 tblsp sugar
    – several sprigs of sweet mint
    – juice of a whole lime
    – ice
    – 1.5 shots white rum – Bacardi Silver
    – splash orangina
    – splash soda water
    Directions:
1 – Chop mint. Add to sugar, and grind with a spoon to release the mint flavor. Use a motar and pestle if available. Add ice, lime juice and rum. Splash with grapefruit juice, orangina, and soda water.
2 – Garnish with a thin slice of lime dipped in brown sugar (float on top).
This is a slight variation of the classic Cuban Mojito with Orangina, but it adds a great taste.

I can’t believe that you can get that much done in one weekend. I have only one kid and me and I’m lucky to get 1/2 my house cleaned and not much else! BTW, I love the bag. Where did it come from? As for the Mojito, I’m still rum shy after that unfortunate incident at Cal Poly junior year :).

Oh my gosh! Katrina, you are a freakin’ enabler. I want those shoes. They say extra squishy in the description. Who can resist extra squishy shoes? I may have to order them this weekend too. And, about the Mojito, let me know if those are good, I’m curious. Enjoy your weekend… it looks to be a busy one. Laughing about the jealous floors. Good one!

You must live in VT! I love VT and spend lots of time there. In fact I’m going next weekend to a sb retreat in Chittenden. I’ve been to SB Central a couple of times. Congrats on making the DT. The next time I’m in the area, I have to stop by to say hi! It might be soon, my ds applied to UVM for Fall 06.
