(1.21) this week.
this week I am feeling overwhelmed with household repairs…a dishwasher that won't drain, an boiler expansion tank & relief valve that need to be replaced, and a new oil tank that needs to be installed.
this week I am not going to obsess about the low temps. Yes, it's wicked cold.
this week I am headed to NYC for a quick business trip.
this week I am trying to move slowly through a flare up of back pain.
this week I am increasing my daily meditation time.
this week I am making chili for the first time ever…a request from Austin. Anyone have tips for this tomato hater?
What are you up to this week?

I use a Mrs Beetons recipe as a basis for mine and I always get favourable comments.I ten to replace the chilli powder with fresh chillis though. Let me know if you want the recipe as I can’t find it online xx

Yes, I have a tip. Tell my grandson to learn to cook! 🙂

We had our dishwasher go out this weekend as well . . . just what I need with baby on the way. Sigh. As for a chili recipe for tomato haters, my college roommate LOVED Carroll Shelby’s chili seasoning mix and only ever added the meat – no beans or tomatoes or anything. I’m assuming you are going veggie so add the veggies and beans you want, no meat, and don’t worry about tomatoes. That is my advice.

thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I’m going to pick this up after work. We’re using veggie chorizo and beans.

Oh, he knows how to cook – it’s more a matter of figuring out how to satisfy both of us.

I’d love to see the recipe! Thanks Louise!

Funny – I used my slow cooker for a football thing months ago, and have never remembered to pick it up again.

I made chili last week….3 ways. Meat and corn and tomato sauce for my girl, then split that and added kidney beans for my husband. Mine was tomatoes, corn, beans, and zucchini. Stock for all, and chili powder to cumin, 1tbs to 1 tsp. My husband hated tomatoes, so if I use them for him, I throw them in the blender. Yummy!

all of our appliances in our kitchen are slowing starting to fail…boooo!
if you have a tomato hater & want to make chili, then make white chicken chili.super yummy but without tomatoes!

There are a lot of good white chili recipes out there…usually with ground turkey or chicken but you could substitute.

Cathy Zielske’s chili recipe has no tomatoes and is, like the name suggests, chililicious. I make it often and always get compliments from first time eaters.

I can relate about the dishwasher. Mine did the same thing over a year ago. I am still doing dishes by hand. How I miss only having to load and unload…

3 ways??? You’re a chili rockstar.

I do love white chili (sans chicken), but Austin doesn’t. sigh.

Austin & I are so difficult, aren’t we? I took Tracy’s suggestion above and made an EXCELLENT veggie chili.

Hey friend! Off to check out that recipe. Thanks!

Seems that maybe you can afford to buy a dishwasher this week, eh? 🙂 🙂 🙂

I agree with this writer….Carroll Shelby’s Chili is a fav with me and chili loving daughter. Pair with corn bread, butter, honey or strawberry jam, grated cheddar and chopped onions (if-you-like) and voila! Ummm…best chili…
Left overs for breakfast…chili with eggs
Or this chili on top of spaghetti pasta w/ the grated cheese (a good white cheddar or Tillamock…spelling)…nice very green salad or old fashion cole slaw…
Pinto beans best in this recipe.

New to your blog by way of your project life posts which I enjoy.
I picked up on your worry wart mention and the back pain. Pending location you could be one who suffers from sciatica brought on by stress and worry… I know first hand the impairment that comes with it on occasion.
Easier than said sometimes, but try to deep breath through the pile up. 🙂 Kind of like Lamars at times! {LOL}
Looking forward to your next PL post.
