hey cutie pies.

Piejaringredients

What happens when you take these yummy ingredients, and put them in these cute little mason jars…

Piejars

You end up with Chocolate Raspberry Mint Pie Jars. The idea? Adorable. The result? One little issue – see that chocolate layer? Once refrigerated, it becomes hard enough to bend a spoon (yes, Austin did). The rest of the recipe was yummy – we ate some leftover mousse filling straight from the bowl. The inspiration for all of this? A fun cookbook…

Cutie Pies (aff) is a new cookbook by Dani Cone. Dani is the owner of Fuel Coffee and High 5 Pies in Seattle (y'all know how much I love Seattle!). The details, straight from the publisher…

"Praised by Bon Appétit, DailyCandy, and Sunset magazine, the secrets behind Dani Cone's signature handmade, all-natural miniature pies are revealed for the first time inside Cutie Pies: 40 Sweet, Savory, and Adorable Recipes. Whether you're grabbing the perfectly portable Flipside on the way to work, enjoying a Piejar as a tasty afternoon treat, or looking for a fun and impressive dinner party dessert, Cutie Pies provides the perfect morsels to satisfy sweet and savory cravings alike.

Inside Cutie Pies, Cone presents 40 exclusive recipes inspired by the unique line of compact pastries she serves at her Seattle-based Fuel Coffee and High 5 Pie locations, which have received a Best of Seattle Weekly award. Sweet, one-of-a-kind treats like a Mango-Raspberry-Lemon Piepop mingle with savory recipes like Cone's Curry Veggie Piejar, all in a distinct and delightful design.

Cutie Pies is illustrated throughout with more than 20 mouthwatering, full-color photographs, and its contemporary fashion and straightforward recipes enable bakers everywhere to create these tiny treats with big flavor."

My verdict? Definitely some fun recipes to try. I've bookmarked at least a dozen! I'll definitely give the Pie Jars another go…and make a batch or two of Flipsides. Love the bright & cheery photographs, and the easy-to-follow recipes. Pie is a comfort food for me – and this cookbook makes comfort pretty darn cute.

Something that you probably didn't know about me – I wrote a business plan for a pie shop during a marketing class in college. It's still one of those "hmmm, what if?" daydreams. Maybe Dani needs an east coast High 5 Pies location?

Disclaimer – I'm duty-bound to tell you that I rec'd this book from the publisher via NetGalley. I received no compensation (monetary or in kind) for writing this review. And no, Kimber, I will not share my pie.
