happy friday

Good morning. So glad it's Friday. This week has been crazy, and I've hardly been in the office – which is precisely WHY it has been crazy.

I've been volunteering with Austin's school this week. They spend their last week at camp, and I've been helping out with (what else?) – a scrapbooking class. The appointed leader of the class is a very nice person, I'm sure. But I'm also quite sure that she rubs me the wrong way. First of all, she keeps telling me that I'm a "sweetheart for helping out." Let me explain that this person is likely 5-7 years younger than me….so it's not like it's the grandmotherly "sweetheart" thing. Why does that bug me? Because I'm a volunteer. The school asked for help, and I signed up. Rob & I try to be involved in as much as we can. That doesn't make us sweethearts – it makes us PARENTS. Second, she hasn't actually scrapbooked in a few years, so her "style" is completely different than mine. It's just irritating to have her ask if I use _______ (insert supply here: stickers, decorative scissors, themed paper etc), and when I reply "no, not anymore," she says "but you said you were a scrapbooker!?" Sigh. Sometimes it's just not worth the effort.

Tomorrow, we're off to Carman & Karen's house for chapter 2 of Home Improvement weekends. We're prepping/painting the living room and working on the front porch. They have a really old house that is going to be amazing when it's done. And, while we're on the home improvement subject….wanna see the chalkboard wall that we did in our kitchen?  Kitchen
