2014: thoughts & gratitude.

Leaves

We're getting our first winter storm of the season as I type this – so our Thanksgiving will be white & cold…such is life in New England. I spent the better part of the afternoon baking (with a brief respite to tend to a Thanksgiving injury…knife vs. thumb. The knife won.). I have recipes printed & staged for tomorrow. Our celebration will be a bit unconventional this year, as we blend the past & the present. I'm sure there will be a few awkward moments, but I trust that there will be awesome moments as well.

This year, as always, I am grateful for the friends that are my family, my tribe. The people that surround me with love each & every day. I am grateful for the young adults who call me Mom. They are the most incredible people that I have the privilege of knowing. I am grateful for a new more-than-friend by my side. He makes me laugh, and tells me that he is my biggest fan. I am grateful for family that loves unconditionally. Totally missing my little brother this year. I am grateful for magic, miracles, change, and growth. It's a wild & crazy ride.

I hope that your Thanksgiving is filled with gratitude & grace and with love & light. "When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate. And when life is bitter, say thank you and grow." – Shauna Niequist.
